Habesha defines us. In turn we illustrate all of us : you, he, she, they, the population, the country... all these are Habesha. From the beginning, our aspiration has been to expose our internal perspective toward art and creativity, and in the meanwhile to broaden this small studio into the more pronounced district of fine arts. Consequently, as being Ethiopian citizen, we strongly believe to exert our part for the development of our country through our profession. Bearing this in mind, we are doing our best. In the same time, we encourage voluntaries that love our country, are proud of being Ethiopian and are confident about their personality. We welcome those who, both from here or from overseas, share this inspiration with us and are eager to put their effort willingly into practice. We are determined to participate in activities that are of assistance to our country's growth, such as teaching street HABESHA ART STUDIO CREATION & EVOLUTION Graduated of Fine Arts and Design School in 2001 (1994 EC), we, 5 young artists, Dawit Abebe, Girmachew Getnet, Mathias Lulu, Workneh Bezu, Yosef Lule, decided to promote ethiopian contemporary art. We were the first group to create a studio, which allowed us to live and create together. Each of us has his own character and behaviour, and is gifted with his own talent. The main thing we have in common is our hunger for the wisdom of art. This feeling underneath is natural and we share it altogether. We started to work with this internal feeling explained before, initiatively to profit wisdom and we left all other things as family, making money, anything and ourselves, behind us. Therefore, we, the Habesha, sacrifice ourselves with all our effort to art, and enjoyed the outcome, which was the amazing form of opposition or similarity of ideas contained in our mind, and the communication progresses between us. OUR EXPECTATIONS FOR FUTURE We have been struggling for Habesha Art Studio since 6 years. We are one of the only studio composed of 5 artists remaining...We will continue our fight for Ethiopian contemporary art, with the will to expand it to other African countries and worldwide. HABESHA ART We prefer to create untitled art, to allow admirators of our art to follow their own feelings... Several of our paintings are spread all around the world : of course in Ethiopia, but also in France, Germany, USA, England, Kenya, Australia...Even though they work together for creation, each of them has his own artistic creativity, his own style and own experiences. |
