PERSONAL ROAD & SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

First, it is important to know yourself, your family, your country, then to extend knowledge to the world. Nowadays, I would like to exhibit my art in other countries. Travelling would allow me to discover other culture, people, landscape... But for leaving Addis is a nice town.

Apart from art and life, I am interested in reading history and culture, especially about Ethiopia.

While you are child, you always think of playing. While you get matured, you think about life, how to survive in the present and future, how to be positive for your family. Life brings a lot of inspiration for art. As well, dreams bring you a lot of ideas... Mainly I paint with my sub-conscious...But keeping in mind positive ideas, with which you can pass a lot of messages.

But when I look again at my paintings, I discover new ideas. For example, my "Green women" were coming from my dreams, but they are also representative of the vital energy from the nature. Green is symbol of vegetal life that reproduces all over the world. Women also are the ones that bring life.

I used to play with colours, painting flowers, clock, women, scenes of life. Painting clock was expressing about running time, and wish to leave timeless, as in dream. Anyway people run after time, but I prefer to enjoy it...I don't fear to become old as I will have discover a lot of things about life.

Now I choose colours purposely to describe some idea. In the same way, my recent paper works are the only ones not untitled. They show the situation in Ethiopia, as I am conscious of what is happening around me. I use newspapers that already talk about the situation...So I talk over it.
